The Manifestation 2-Step

I've been tinkering recently with a few manifestation techniques as part of my ongoing "I live what I teach" process that I share with my "It's Obvious, Stupid!" print newsletter subscribers. Naturally, I'm keeping the specifics of what I am doing (and also the interesting results I'm getting!) for them, but it's interesting to note a couple of things that I thought might be worth sharing with you.

Firstly, there is always a challenge of getting the balance of your thinking right. Even the most positive people in the world (like myself) have times where, no matter what they try and do, they can't easily get out of a down mood.

Now, in the past, I may have beaten myself up over the fact that I wasn't thinking positively, but now I realize that its much better to just let my mood get on with it, and accept that I'm much better off focus my positive thoughts and energy when I'm in a much more positive mood!

None of us are positive thinkers all of the time - no matter what the 'experts' may have you believe. The key is to just accept that sometimes - it doesn't matter!

Life is about balance...and sometimes due to circumstances in your life, it's not always easy to stay on the positive side. The less you let it get to you the better, and just accept that, as long as you try to look for feeling a little bit better, then that's all you can do until your mood shifts.

Secondly...I see so many people just literally wandering around in a daze, just going through the motions of life. What a waste! I can see the (often negative) thoughts whirring around behind their eyes as they walk around. Little do they know that most of the time, they are literally creating what they fear!

I know this stuff because it's exactly what I did with my separation last year from my wife of 14 years, Lesley. Almost everything I dread happening actually happened, almost as if I had scripted it myself! The hours I spent before we split up expecting the worst actually came true!

So, whatever you may be doing, and (more importantly) whatever you may be thinking - PLEASE just at least look for what you want in your life rather than focusing on what you don't want.

I can't stress how truly important this point is.

Thanks for your post re: the Manifestation 2-Step. Positive thinking is a one sided approach to life and will always manifest its opposite -- the downside to life. Positive thinking violates the laws of this universe. If we violate those laws and we pay the consequence. But you are right in just accepting the the down side to things until it passes. It is very important for restoring balance from the positive thinking approach. Negatives always follow positives. Re: hypnosis. It's a cop out and places responsibility elsewhere for our current situation and will only drive the causative factors deeper into the recesses of the mind. Does it work? Yes, temporarily, but at what cost. The problem will only surface at another time with even more force until the understanding is achieved. I don't begruge anyone who wants to use it as that is there choice, but I wouldn't myself for the reasons stated and more. We need to understand ourselves better and not shove the problem deeper into our minds out of conscious awareness -- for the moment -- which is all that hypnosis does. The problem will resurface. Don't want to go that route. Thank you, John

I have been a fan of yours for a while now, and I can honestly say that you have reached into my heart, quite unknowingly I'm sure, and made my day more times that I can remember. You are a wonderful person and your little reminders and tips and quotes and just plain well wishes are gifts that I just had to say a big THANK YOU to you for sharing.

Thanks for sharing, Gary, that we're ALL subject to the old '2-Step' ... Sometimes forward and sometimes Back, which actually matches much better the ebb and flow, cyclical nature of life and the Universe. Many 'searchers' are looking to 'Gurus' for a 'Fix' thinking THEY have all the answers and are Never 'down' forgetting that we all share this Human Condition and are all pretty much making it up as we go along :) Another reason to be more watchful over our thoughts is that there is a 'speeding-up', a 'quickening' taking place in the Universe and a Transition approaching that is causing manifestations to occur more quickly. those who can handle this coming change will remain to usher it in and those who can't will step into their next experience as my cousin did last year at the early age of 51 Thanks for being 'Real' ... YOU ... ARE ... Appreciated!

Really a good article. I try to focus on positive attitude and everytime ishift to negative one. Most of the time when things go wrong i become upset and then sink in negative thoughts. The article is very good eye opener. Regards Rajshekhar

As usual, great post. My view is positive thinking is vital but negative thinking sometimes is a part of being human. I'd say it's something we need to keep under control and if we don't know how to snap out of the funk right away, then just let the bad mood run its course - but no longer than its course. And further, sometimes supposedly "negative" emotions ARE normal, necessary & useful - anger (given the right focus) can motivate you to powerful action & determination; doubting yourself can help you realize you're absolutely NOT suited to something so you shouldn't waste time along a certain path, etc. Obviously there's a fine line to balance on here, but I feel that if you don't let the occasional negativity fester to the point of creating bad RESULTS in your life, then you're good to go. Also, this post reminds me of what the brilliant Dr. Maxwell Maltz, author of the bestseller Psycho-Cybernetics said, "I am a firm believer in 'negative thinking' when used correctly. We need to be AWARE of negatives so that we can steer clear of them. A golfer needs to know where the bunkers and sandtraps are - but he doesn't think continuously about the bunker - where he doesn't want to go. His mind "glances" at the bunker, but he DWELLS upon the green."
