I received some interesting email on yesterday's post.
Today's message will be an attempt to respond to the
following haunting questions, "What if I don't believe in
anything, even God? And what if this lack of belief creates
more problems and anger to the point where I feel doomed?"
WOW! Have you ever been there? I know I have.
Having beliefs is inescapable. Realize that whether you
believe in something or not, that IS your belief!
Yesterday I watched the movie, "A Walk To Remember" with
Shane West and Mandy Moore. Mandy says something like,
"Suffering builds compassion." Shane replies, "Yeah, well
tell that to the suffering."
If you're going through some stuff right now, there's very
little I can tell you that will comfort you. You gotta get
through it first and that's the tough part.
But sure as the sun is coming up again tomorrow, you WILL
get through your current situation. And sure as it will be
dark again, there will be other experiences that dwarf
today's challenges.
And sure as Mandy Moore is beautiful, you WILL have more
compassion in the end! Ultimately, everything is for a good
reason. You'll only know this when you've gone through
enough things. For myself, not only have I gained more
compassion, my BELIEF has grown exponentially.
Now for something that may shake your tree a bit, here's a
quote from my latest read, 'Spiritual Economics' by Eric
Butterworth:
"The sincere student of Truth will look in a mirror and say,
"It is high time that you stopped being a part of the
problem and became part of the solution.""
There will come a time when you'll have gleaned as much from
your current experiences as you wish to learn. At that point
you will either pass the 'course' and move on, or you will
'cut class' only to have to relearn the lesson again
somewhere down the road of life.
Henry Ford was quoted, "Think you can; think you can't;
either way you're right!"
A simple matter of choice. Right now you are choosing NOT to
believe - and that is your belief!
To end with a quote from my good friend Mike Dooley,
"Thoughts are things; choose the good ones."
All the best from Toronto,
Russ
