The White Dress
The bride is absolutely beautiful in her white dress, complete with white veil, white shoes and white gloves and long, flowing white train.
However, a tiny red spot of something - spaghetti sauce or red wine - small, but definitely noticeable, spoils the otherwise pristine vision of purity and perfection.
The point here is, the better you get at something, the more those 'red spots' stick out.
Unfortunately, MOST PEOPLE will ignore the 99.9% good and recoil in horror as they zoom in on that tiny little red spot.
And isn't that what is happening in our world today? With all that is good in the world to see and experience, most people will choose to focus on the negative. How often do conversations start with, "Hey, did you read what Russ wrote last night in Gary Vurnum's Success Forum?"
I rest my case! :)
Seriously, most people have given up control of their own focus to the media, which then directs attention to the 'tiny red spots' of life. In fact, the media often zooms in so close as to make the red spot seem like the ONLY thing in the picture.
I'm here to tell you that there is more good to focus on than bad... ALWAYS! Due to conditioning, it may take a little practice to "see" it, but it is always there nonetheless.
Trade the narrow view of media (TV, newspapers, most popular magazines) for the wide angle view of the many new thinkers and contributors to society such as Gary Vurnum, Charles Burke, Stuart Lichtman, Mike & Andy Dooley, Rick Beneteau, etc.
These people were unknown to me just a year ago, but they have quickly become my heroes. And I'm adding new people to this list each and every week. Will YOU be on my list of heroes a year from now?
Practice seeing the beautiful bride in the white dress for what she is... a beautiful bride in a white dress! And forgive and forget the red spot!
