I have 'found' out two interesting facts from watching daytime TV as I looked after Connor this afternoon.
1) Did you know that top author Jack Higgins (The Eagle Has Landed) generally takes only three and a half weeks to write a book? Once, he even wrote one in 15 days on a subject which he didn't think his publisher would publish (he had to do it to fulfil his contract) - and yet it went on to #1 in the UK, #7 in the US, and made into a popular movie!
What this showed to me was that if I really, truly, want to make something out of my life - I must devote time to it. If I really wanted to write a book in less than a month - could I do it? Or, as is usually the case - would I get sidetracked by the bells and whistles of internet publishing. It definitely gave me food for thought.
2) I turned over to QVC as they started a two-hour special on the 'Painter of Light' - Thomas Kinkade. His paintings are amazing - and one day I will certainly have the money to buy a large canvas to hang in my living room.
It struck me that Kinkade is living proof of the power of residual income. He takes however long to paint one of is (undoubtedly amazing) pictures - then the 'corporate' roll-out begins.
- First - there's the original (God knows how much he could sell that for)
- Second - Reproductions on Canvas
- Third - High Quality full size Print Reproductions
- Fourth - Basic Print Reproductions
- Fifth - Smaller versions of the above
- Sixth - Postcards, Figurines, Plates, Calenders, 'Collectors Club', Lamps, Christmas Tree Decorations - and on and on....
All of these income streams from ONE painting done ONCE in the past! There is certainly a lesson there that can be applied to any business, whether online of off.
I know that it certainly got my 'thinking cap' one. So maybe one day you'll see a quote from The Science of Success on a Christmas decoration!
